What Should I Wear?

Choosing the right outfit is an essential part of getting great headshots taken. There are a few general rules to follow when it comes to photography that make a big difference in how your clothing shows up. Tight, grid like patterns don’t work well with camera lenses, so try to stay away from distracting patterns that might show up weird in the pictures. Distracting colors can also draw attention away from your face and doesn’t look professional, so keep it basic.

Choose a nice suit that doesn’t bunch up when you sit down or button it so you look great from every angle. The suit or blazer should be modern, but not flashy and it should represent your professional style. Try to pair your outfit up with complimenting colors. By that we mean go with a light shirt and dark jacket with a tie that is in between the two shades. If not wearing a tie, go with a semi-dark shirt but not too similar to your jacket color.

Women, make sure to wear something that doesn’t have a low neckline and keep the flashy jewelry to a minimum.
